Christian Nègre, a former human resources director at France’s Ministry of Culture, is under formal investigation for allegedly drugging approximately 250 women during job interviews between 2009 and 2018.

Authorities suspect Nègre used diuretics to induce “chemical submission,” causing interviewees to experience an uncontrollable urge to urinate. This was allegedly used to humiliate the women in public settings or during walks around Paris. The investigation was bolstered by the discovery of an Excel spreadsheet on Nègre’s computer titled “Experiments P” (or “Experiment P”), which reportedly detailed the incidents.

The case emerged after a colleague observed Nègre photographing a female official’s legs in 2018. Victims, including Anaïs de Vos and Marie-Hélène Brice, have come forward to describe physical and psychological trauma. De Vos testified that during a 2011 interview, Nègre provided coffee with an “unusual taste,” after which she experienced extreme physical weakness and an urgent need to urinate while Nègre observed her distress.

Nègre faces multiple charges, including drugging, invasion of privacy, and sexual assault. While he was suspended from his position in 2019, the judicial process has faced delays. As of September 2026, the Paris Prosecutor's Office announced that investigations are now expected to conclude in 2027. To date, 191 victims have filed as civil parties in the case. Some victims have expressed disappointment regarding a lack of transparency and the absence of a definitive trial date.
