Authorities in San Juan, Argentina, are investigating the death of Camila Agustina Vecchiarello, a 26-year-old Gendarmería Nacional trainee, who was found in Barreal with multiple stab wounds. The case is being treated as a suspected femicide.

Vecchiarello’s partner, 25-year-old Carlos Gonzalo Riveros, also a trainee, was found at the scene with signs of an attempted suicide. After receiving medical attention, Riveros was detained and remains under investigation. 

Forensic examinations identified defensive wounds on the victim’s neck, face, and hands. Investigators from the UFI Delitos Especiales, led by prosecutor Adolfo Díaz, have seized evidence including mobile phones, clothing, two knives, and a note attributed to Riveros in which he reportedly apologized to both families.
