The Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into members of the State Guard following allegations of physical assault and abuse of authority in El Mante.

A 33-year-old worker, identified as Erick Isidro “R”, reported being pursued by a patrol car and subsequently beaten until he lost consciousness. The victim sustained a traumatic brain injury and facial lacerations requiring hospitalization. Although initial reports suggested the injuries were the result of a traffic accident, the victim and his family maintain the injuries were caused by the assault. The matter has been referred to the Internal Affairs division of the Tamaulipas Secretariat of Public Security.
