In early August 2026, Brazilian authorities launched investigations following the discovery of fetal remains in two separate locations. 

In Ponta Grossa, Paraná, a male fetus estimated at four months gestation was found in the filtration system of a sewage treatment plant in the Jardim Carvalho neighborhood. The Civil Police are investigating the incident, though the cause and responsible parties remain unknown. 

Prior to this, a container resembling a fetal body was discovered in a glass jar in a vacant lot in the Aleixo district of Manaus, Amazonas. Forensic experts were called to determine if the material was human or animal.
