Recent reports indicate a series of investment scams targeting individuals in Greece.

In Evia, a 69-year-old man lost 89,000 euros through a cryptocurrency scheme. The perpetrators used a fraudulent platform that misappropriated the J.P. Morgan logo and promised returns as high as 1,600%. The victim was prompted to pay an 8% service fee to release supposed profits before realizing the fraud.

In Heraklion, a 48-year-old woman was defrauded of 60,000 euros after being contacted by individuals posing as investment advisors. The victim made two deposits in July to accounts linked to a bank in Malta. Similar to the Evia case, the scammers requested additional payments under the guise of mandatory taxes when the victim attempted to withdraw funds.

In Rethymno, a 65-year-old businessman lost 40,000 euros to an online forex investment platform. Between March and July, the victim made progressive deposits, beginning with a 250 euro registration fee. The fraud was discovered on July 31 when the victim attempted to withdraw funds and found the platform's representatives had become “completely unreachable” and all contact numbers were deactivated.

Authorities in these instances are conducting investigations to trace digital footprints and identify the suspects.
