Iran has begun preparations for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, through squad announcements and international training camps.

In mid-August, Iran announced its 12-member men’s kabaddi squad, led by veteran defender Fazel Atrachali and featuring players such as Mohammadreza Shadloui and Mohammad Esmail Nabibakhsh. The roster includes seven members from the 2023 silver medal-winning team. 

Following the squad announcement, both the men’s and women’s national teams initiated training camps in India and Pakistan. The women’s team held a six-day camp in Sonepat, India, playing friendly matches against the Indian team to integrate a squad that has seen over 80 per cent of its members change since the previous games. Meanwhile, the men’s team traveled to Islamabad, Pakistan, for joint training sessions and friendly matches organized by the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation to strengthen bilateral sporting relations.
