Developments: 8. Astronomical calculations suggest that Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on February 8, 2027, based on a lunar conjunction occurring on February 6. While these estimates serve as a guide, the official start in countries like Egypt remains dependent on the physical sighting of the crescent moon by authorities. In Egypt, the Dar al-Ifta is scheduled to conduct moon sighting observations on the evening of February 7, 2027 (29 Shaban 1448 AH). The final determination of whether the month will consist of 29 or 30 days will be announced following these official observations. In Turkey, the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has released its religious calendar for the 2026-2027 period. This calendar indicates that the ‘Three Months’ period—comprising Recep, Şaban, and Ramadan—is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 10, 2026, coinciding with Regaib Kandili. The month of Şaban is expected to begin on Saturday, January 9, 2027. The Diyanet calendar notes the start of Ramadan on February 8, Laylat al-Qadr on March 5, and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr celebrations on March 9, 2027. Turkey has since announced its official 2027 public holiday calendar. This schedule confirms Ramadan is set to begin on Monday, February 8, 2027. The subsequent Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Bayramı) will begin with an eve on Monday, March 8, followed by a three-day holiday starting Tuesday, March 9. Other significant religious observances in this period include Miraç Kandili on January 15, 2027, and Berat Kandili on February 21, 2027. Because the Hijri calendar follows a lunar cycle, the timing of Ramadan shifts approximately 10 to 11 days earlier each year relative to the Gregorian calendar. Recent astronomical forecasts from the International Astronomy Center indicate the geocentric conjunction of the new moon will occur on Saturday, February 6, 2027. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-11: Ramadan 2027 expected to begin on February 8 based on astronomical estimates Astronomical estimates suggest Ramadan 2027 will begin on February 8, pending official moon sightings by Dar al-Ifta al-Missriyyah. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ramadan-2027-expected-to-begin-on-february-8-based-on-astronomical-estimates ### 2026-10-06: Astronomical forecasts predict Ramadan 2027 start date Astronomical forecasts indicate that Ramadan 2027 will likely begin on February 8, based on lunar visibility predictions for North Africa and Europe. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/astronomical-forecasts-predict-ramadan-2027-start-date ### 2026-10-04: Turkey announces 2027 official public holiday calendar Turkey's 2027 official holiday calendar has been released, noting that Ramadan begins on February 8 and Eid al-Fitr starts on March 9. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkey-announces-2027-official-public-holiday-calendar ### 2026-09-28: Islamic Three Months and Ramadan 2027 Calendar The Three Months period, including Recep, Şaban, and Ramadan, is set to begin on December 10, 2026, with Ramadan starting on February 8, 2027, according to religious calendars. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/islamic-three-months-and-ramadan-2027-calendar ### 2026-09-24: Ramadan 2027 astronomical dates projected Astronomical estimates suggest Ramadan 2027 will begin around February 7 or 8, with official dates pending moon sightings. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ramadan-2027-astronomical-dates-projected ### 2026-09-21: Ramadan 2027 expected to begin in early February Astronomical estimates suggest Ramadan 2027 will begin in early February, with official dates to be confirmed via lunar sightings by authorities such as Egypt's Dar al-Ifta. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ramadan-2027-expected-to-begin-in-early-february ### 2026-09-20: Diyanet releases 2026-2027 religious holiday calendar The Diyanet religious calendar for 2026-2027 announces the start of the three holy months on December 10, 2026, with Ramadan beginning February 8, 2027. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/diyanet-releases-2026-2027-religious-holiday-calendar ### 2026-09-18: Ramadan 2027 expected to begin on February 8 based on astronomical calculations Astronomical calculations suggest Ramadan 2027 will begin on February 8, 2027, pending official lunar sightings by religious authorities. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ramadan-2027-expected-to-begin-on-february-8-based-on-astronomical-calculations --- Cite as: Islamic religious calendar 2026-2027.
