Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Israel is facing increased scrutiny regarding aviation security and international safety following several high-profile incidents. On September 30, an Omani co-pilot attacked a captain with an emergency axe on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, forcing the aircraft to land in Saudi Arabia. This event has led to questions about Israel’s screening processes and its standing in the United States Visa Waiver Program, with a US delegation expected to evaluate security requirements. Subsequent security concerns have emerged involving flights connected to Israel, including a suspected bomb threat on an Austrian Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna that required a diversion to Bulgaria, and an anonymous bomb report on a Delta Air Lines flight traveling from New York to Ben Gurion Airport. In addition to aviation threats, research from the Institute for National Security Studies suggests that Israel’s military actions in Gaza and the West Bank are contributing to rising antisemitism and social turmoil within Jewish Diaspora communities in the United States, Canada, Britain, France, and South America. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Security threats to Israel-linked aviation and Diaspora communities rise Aviation security concerns rise following bomb threats on Israel-linked flights, while an INSS report warns that Israel's conflict is fueling antisemitism and instability in global Jewish communities. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/security-threats-to-israel-linked-aviation-and-diaspora-communities-rise ### 2026-10-06: Israel faces security scrutiny following Flydubai attack and airport breach Israel faces scrutiny over its Visa Waiver Program status following a Flydubai cockpit attack and a security breach at Ben Gurion Airport that allowed draft avoiders to bypass exit controls. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/israel-faces-security-scrutiny-following-flydubai-attack-and-airport-breach --- Cite as: Israel aviation security and Diaspora safety concerns.
