Sources: 22. Developments: 2. Israeli forces detained several Italian activists in the West Bank near Hebron while they were accompanying Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. Israeli authorities stated the individuals were held for entering a closed military zone without coordination and for allegedly being involved with organizations they define as hostile. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs intervened to request clarification on the detainees' conditions. This incident followed the recent expulsion of two other Italian nationals, Manuel and Alberto Tartarotti, who were issued ten-year bans from entering Israel following accusations of terrorism related to their affiliation with the Youth of Sumud association. On October 23, the five Italian women were released and repatriated to Italy. Officials from the Italian embassy in Tel Aviv met them at the airport and reported they appeared to be in good physical condition. The activists were part of an international volunteer effort to document violence and protect access to groves during the harvest season, a period in which human rights organizations have reported significant settler violence. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: Italian activists repatriated after West Bank detention Five Italian activists have returned home after being detained by Israeli forces in the West Bank while supporting Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-activists-repatriated-after-west-bank-detention ### 2026-10-21: Italian activists detained in West Bank during olive harvest Italian authorities are seeking the release of several activists detained by Israeli forces in the West Bank during a Palestinian olive harvest near Hebron. 18 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/two-italian-activists-detained-and-expelled-from-west-bank --- Cite as: Israeli detention of Italian activists in West Bank.
