The Istanbul Bosphorus Museum opened at the Kabataş Transfer Center, featuring an inaugural exhibition titled ‘Mehtabı Sürükledik Sularda: Bir Boğaziçi Hikâyesi’. This exhibition utilizes historical maps, engravings, and artworks from figures such as Hoca Ali Rıza and Ara Güler to showcase the Bosphorus region’s transformation from the 18th and 19th centuries through modern urbanization. In addition to the museum, the İBB launched the Republican History Research Center in a restored historical İETT building at Metrohan. This center houses the Zafer Toprak Archive, which contains over 100,000 items, including books, periodicals, photographs, and films. The facility includes a workspace for researchers and a multipurpose hall for academic meetings. Regarding museum accessibility, İBB Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan announced a proposal to set entry fees for all İBB-managed museums, including the Şerefiye Cistern, to 1 lira for Turkish citizens. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality opens new history center and Bosphorus museum Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has opened the Republican History Research Center at Metrohan and the Istanbul Bosphorus Museum at Kabataş, featuring significant historical archives and art. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/istanbul-metropolitan-municipality-opens-new-history-center-and-bosphorus-museum ### 2026-09-12: Istanbul Bosphorus Museum opens at Kabataş Transfer Center The Istanbul Bosphorus Museum has opened at the Kabataş Transfer Center.
