As the fourth anniversary of the Itaewon tragedy approaches, the South Korean government, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and bereaved families are organizing memorial events. The October 29 ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:29 AM with a moment of silence for the 160 victims. Participants distributed purple ribbons and demanded a full investigation into the cause of the disaster and accountability for those responsible. Lee Jeong-min, president of the bereaved families association, stated the march serves as an appeal to prevent such pain from recurring.

While a joint prosecution-police investigation team recently concluded its activities following changes in criminal procedure laws, a special investigation team has been established to continue inquiries. Furthermore, a legislative amendment has extended the mandate of the Special Investigation Committee on the Itaewon Tragedy by one year, until September 16, 2027, to ensure a thorough investigation into structural causes and prevention measures.
