Sources: 17. Developments: 2. Italian authorities launched an anti-mafia operation in the Vallo di Lauro region to disrupt the reorganization of the Graziano clan. Law enforcement officials, including the Carabinieri and the Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia, detained four individuals, including suspected leader Fiore Graziano. The group was accused of mafia association and attempting to extort a 5% commission from public works contracts. Following these arrests, the Naples Court of Review annulled the precautionary measure against businessman Nicola Dello Russo. Dello Russo had been investigated for allegedly acting as an intermediary between the Graziano-led group and a targeted business during a series of extortions between February and September 2026. While prosecutors argued his involvement was evidenced by the timing of a protection money request, defense counsel maintained the timing was a coincidence. Other suspects in the investigation remain under judicial review. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-17: Naples court annuls arrest of businessman in Graziano clan extortion case A Naples court has annulled the arrest of Nicola Dello Russo, who was accused of acting as an intermediary for the Graziano clan in an extortion scheme in Vallo di Lauro. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/naples-court-annuls-arrest-of-businessman-in-graziano-clan-extortion-case ### 2026-10-02: Clan Graziano members detained in Italian anti-mafia operation Italian law enforcement has detained members of the Graziano clan for mafia association and extortion in Vallo di Lauro, and arrested a man suspected of attempting to murder a woman in Salerno. 17 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/graziano-clan-reorganization-disrupted-by-italian-authorities --- Cite as: Italian anti-mafia investigation into Graziano clan.
