Sources: 13. Developments: 2. Italian artists are utilizing the myth of Narcissus to explore themes of identity and modern existence through various exhibitions. In Pompeii, Nello Petrucci unveiled a white resin sculpture titled ‘Narciso’ at the Habita79 hotel. The piece is displayed on a mirrored surface to create a dialogue between the sculpture and its reflection, aiming to investigate the “fragility and ego of modern society” and the contemporary obsession with image. In Cremona, the Mangano Galleria d’Arte launched a solo exhibition by Luigi Mastrangelo titled ‘Io sono Narciso’. Running from October 2026 through January 2027, the exhibition features historical and recent works that address the “crisis of anthropocentrism and the fluidity of identity.” In Potenza, the Provincial Archaeological Museum is hosting four collateral exhibitions alongside the main show ‘Caravaggio. Narciso. Il mito di un capolavoro’ until November 30. These installations, selected by a technical commission to maintain thematic and conceptual coherence with the central Narcissus myth, include contemporary dialogues with Caravaggio, traditional Lucanian costumes, sculpture, and large-scale photography. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-17: Italian art exhibitions explore the myth of Narcissus Art exhibitions in Potenza, Pompeii, and Cremona are utilizing the myth of Narcissus to explore contemporary identity, ranging from Caravaggio-themed displays to modern sculptures and historical paintings. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-artists-explore-narcissus-myth-in-new-exhibitions ### 2026-10-12: Nello Petrucci unveils ‘Narciso’ sculpture in Pompeii Artist Nello Petrucci has introduced a new white resin sculpture, ‘Narciso’, at the Habita79 hotel in Pompeii, using the classical myth to explore modern identity and self-perception. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nello-petrucci-unveils-narciso-sculpture-in-pompeii --- Cite as: Italian art exhibitions exploring Narcissus myth.
