Cultural events in Italy continue to commemorate the legacies of Nobel Prize-winning authors Grazia Deledda and Dario Fo.

In Sardinia, the ‘Un anno con Grazia’ film series at Cinema Solaris explores the connection between Deledda’s works and cinema, marking the centenary of her Nobel Prize. In Grosseto, the ‘Dune in Città’ series includes a reading of ‘Una donna sola’ by Dario Fo and Franca Rame to honor the centenary of Fo’s birth.

Commemorations for Dario Fo have expanded to include urban and biographical tributes. In Milan, the city inaugurated Largo Dario Fo to mark the tenth anniversary of his death, and the Palazzina Liberty is expected to reopen by the end of the year as a center for theater and remembrance. The international theatrical event in Perugia, ‘Dario Fo: Qui si fa teatro!’, scheduled for October 18, 2026, brings together artists from Italy, France, England, and Spain to discuss the works of Fo and Rame.

Other theatrical tributes include Ugo Dighero performing ‘Lu Santo Jullare Francesco’ in Cortemilia and ‘Mistero Buffo’ in Bistagno. Recent programming continues to feature tributes to Dario Fo and Franca Rame in Perugia and Cortemilia, alongside the debut of the Adelife play in Genoa.

Additionally, new biographical studies, such as an essay by Marco Belocchi and Lorenzo Pompeo, continue to examine Fo’s life and his identity as an ‘anarchic’ performer.
