Sources: 7. Developments: 2. Municipalities in Italy are implementing various environmental projects to create natural oases and wetlands, supported by funding from Fondazione Cariverona. In Osimo, a project worth 342,000 euros will transform a lake into a natural oasis by reshaping banks, creating a hygrophilous forest, and installing floating islands for wildlife. In Asola, the ‘Aware’ project has secured 436,000 euros to develop a multifunctional wetland intended to improve water quality and serve as a center for scientific research. Expanding on these efforts, Fondazione Cariverona has allocated 1.6 million euros to four specific environmental projects in the Verona region as part of its ‘Natural Capital 2026’ initiative. This is part of a broader 4.5 million euro commitment across several provinces. The initiative seeks to treat nature as ‘essential infrastructure’ to increase ecosystem resilience, improve water retention, and cool urban areas. Key projects include ‘Naturaforte’ for urban reforestation in Verona and ‘Risorgi’ for the ecological restoration of spring areas in Buttapietra. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Fondazione Cariverona allocates 1.6 million euros for Verona environmental projects Fondazione Cariverona is investing 1.6 million euros into four environmental projects in Verona to treat biodiversity and natural resources as essential infrastructure for climate resilience. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fondazione-cariverona-allocates-16-million-euros-for-verona-environmental-projects ### 2026-10-01: Italian municipalities launch wetland and natural oasis projects Italian municipalities in Osimo and Asola are utilizing Fondazione Cariverona funding to develop new wetlands and natural oases to boost biodiversity and environmental education. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-municipalities-launch-wetland-and-natural-oasis-projects --- Cite as: Italian environmental and wetland restoration projects.
