Recent reports from Italian football highlight various match outcomes and officiating concerns. In the Champions League, the Roma-Real Madrid fixture drew scrutiny toward referee Letexier regarding offside decisions and contested penalty appeals, despite the use of Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT). In Serie A, Lazio secured victories in consecutive matches, first against Monza following a red card for Lucchesi, and later with a 2-1 win over Parma. Other results included Torino defeating Monza 3-2, while Cagliari fans expressed frustration following a loss to Bologna. Genoa recently secured a vital 1-0 victory against Venezia in an eighth-round relegation battle at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. The decisive moment occurred in the 25th minute when Mikael Ellertsson, playing against his former club, scored a “spectacular left-footed goal from the edge of the area” that found the top corner of the net. Despite the early lead, Genoa faced significant pressure in the second half from a resilient Venezia side led by Davide Nicola. Venezia created several opportunities through players including Yeboah and Sohm, but Genoa goalkeeper Bijlow made crucial saves to maintain a clean sheet. This victory marks Genoa’s second win in three matches, moving them up to seven points in the standings, while Venezia remains at the bottom of the table. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Genoa defeats Venezia 1-0 in Serie A relegation battle Mikael Ellertsson scored a stunning long-range goal to lead Genoa to a 1-0 victory over Venezia in a crucial Serie A relegation match. 39 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-football-torino-defeats-monza-3-2-as-cosenza-draws-with-savoia ### 2026-10-13: Football updates: Officiating scrutiny in Roma-Real Madrid and Lazio's win over Monza Recent football action features officiating debates in the Roma-Real Madrid match and a dramatic Lazio victory over Monza following a red card and tactical shifts. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/football-updates-officiating-scrutiny-in-roma-real-madrid-and-lazios-win-over-monza --- Cite as: Italian football match updates.
