In late July 2026 a night‑time guided walk in Rome was announced, taking visitors to lesser‑known viewpoints such as the Campidoglio, Roman Forum and Velabro, and a public presentation at the Roman villa of Fiumana near Predappio highlighted recent archaeological discoveries.

By early August the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano (FAI) launched its “Sere FAI d’estate” programme, extending evening opening hours to a wide range of heritage sites across Italy. The initiative scheduled sunset aperitifs on a house‑boat in Lombardy, candlelit tours at Villa Fogazzaro Roi, and special evening access to Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como. Further south, night‑time events were planned at the Giardino della Kolymbethra and nearby sites in the Valley of the Temples, featuring astronomical observations, concerts, sound‑art installations and poetry evenings.

The programme was expanded through mid‑September to include additional venues such as the 17th‑century Casino Mollo in Calabria (twilight treks, astronomy sessions, traditional music and beekeeping workshops), Villa Panza, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, the Monastero di Torba and Casa Macchi in Varese (concerts, children’s activities and stargazing), and further events at Villa del Balbianello, Villa Fogazzaro Roi and the historic Velarca on Lake Como. All activities remain free or low‑cost, aiming to showcase Italy’s cultural and natural heritage in a new twilight setting, while the nearby Riserva dei Giganti stays temporarily closed for safety checks.
