Autostrade per l’Italia has initiated a reorganization of its engineering and construction pillars, Amplia Infrastructures and Tecne, to facilitate a large-scale regeneration plan for its motorway network. This strategic shift involves merging Tecne’s engineering design branch into Amplia, adding 500 technicians and engineers to Amplia’s workforce. CEO Arrigo Giana noted the integration aims to create “greater synergy between engineering and construction expertise” to streamline processes.

Ongoing maintenance and infrastructure projects continue to cause widespread traffic disruptions across Italy. Recent scheduled works include night closures on the A8 Milano-Varese for overpass, safety barrier, and noise barrier maintenance between October 19 and October 24. The A1 Milano-Napoli motorway will see night closures between Valdichiana and Monte San Savino for bridge inspections, while the A14 Bologna-Taranto will undergo night paving between Vasto Nord and Vasto Sud on October 18-19. In Sicily, the A18 Messina-Catania motorway faces a 12-hour total closure on October 18 to secure the Giardini tunnel following an August fire.

Regional and local projects remain active. In Montelupo Fiorentino, a 400,000-euro project has concluded to stabilize the Turbone stream bank using large boulders, an intervention designed to prevent environmental damage by containing waste from a 1970s landfill exposed by landslides. Other notable works include road resurfacing on the SR 261 Subequana, water network upgrades in Jesi, pedestrian safety improvements in Legnano, and the ongoing construction of the Tremezzina bypass near Lake Como, which is projected for completion in April 2031.
