In Grosseto, the Minister met with local organizations to discuss regional needs and foster dialogue between national institutions and families. Following this, Locatelli traveled to Palermo as part of the ‘Prima le persone’ initiative. This program focuses on highlighting local models of support for people with disabilities.

Locatelli recently concluded the fourth stage of the ‘Prima le persone’ initiative in Palermo after a two-day event. During the visit, she inaugurated a new multifunctional center in the Borgo Nuovo district and met with various local organizations. The association ‘I diritti dei più fragili aps’ presented the Minister with letters from families and caregivers detailing the daily challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.

Throughout the Sicilian visit, the Minister emphasized the necessity of a “collective civil and cultural shift” to prioritize social issues. She stressed that institutions must work alongside citizens, the private sector, and third-sector entities to ensure a dignified quality of life. Discussions also addressed the ongoing disability reform and the importance of centering families and practical support in policy decisions.
