Italian municipalities have initiated various pest control and insect disinfection programs to maintain urban hygiene and public health.

In early September, authorities in Cagliari and Rende announced schedules for managing insects and rodents. In Rende, interventions targeting winged insects were scheduled for mid-September across industrial, residential, and university zones.

By mid-October, campaigns expanded across different regions. In Montesilvano, a program led by Ambi Q srl was set to begin on October 12, utilizing daytime larvicidal treatments and nighttime adulticidal disinfection between midnight and 6:00 AM. Residents were advised to close windows and clear balconies of food or clothing during these hours. In Rende, Brutia Disinfestazione Srl, in collaboration with local police, scheduled interventions from October 6 to October 10 targeting the historic center, industrial zones, and university areas, primarily after midnight.

In the Marche region, municipalities implemented measures to combat common and tiger mosquitoes during the autumn. In Fano, nighttime disinfestation was scheduled from October 15 to October 18, targeting eight municipal cemeteries and various educational facilities, including nurseries and schools. Vice Mayor and Environmental Councilor Loretta Manocchi noted the goal was to protect public health in areas used by families and children. Meanwhile, Senigallia began a cycle of anti-larval treatments on October 13, applying products to rainwater drains to prevent larvae development, citing that mild weather and standing water allow mosquitoes to thrive until sustained cold arrives.
