Initially, the focus centered on the upcoming release of ‘Atlante della musica in Italia. Luoghi, storie e percorsi per viaggi musicali’ by Ulrico Hoepli Editore. Curated by Luca De Gennaro, this book acts as a musical guide and historical essay covering 60 years of Italian song, connecting specific locations such as Milan, Naples, Turin, and Rome to their respective musical legacies. This preservation effort has since been supplemented by the ‘Note condivise’ project. Led by Wikimedia Italia with funding from the Chiesa Valdese, this initiative focuses on the digitalization of historical musical materials. By collaborating with institutions like the Teatro Regio di Torino, the project aims to make manuscripts, scores, and opera librettos available as open digital resources to increase accessibility for researchers and the public. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Italian musical heritage receives new literary and digital focus New initiatives in Italy are enhancing access to musical history, including a new book mapping song landmarks and a Wikimedia Italia project digitizing historical scores and manuscripts. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-musical-heritage-receives-new-literary-and-digital-focus ### 2026-09-30: Atlante della musica in Italia book release explores Italian musical history A new book, ‘Atlante della musica in Italia’, curated by Luca De Gennaro, will be released on November 13, mapping 60 years of Italian music history through its iconic locations and stories. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/atlante-della-musica-in-italia-book-release-explores-italian-musical-history --- Cite as: Italian musical heritage preservation initiatives.
