The Italian olive oil sector is experiencing a period of simultaneous international recognition and domestic economic instability. In Bari, the 31st Biol International Award is scheduled to feature 504 organic extra virgin olive oils from 17 countries, with 310 Italian labels competing for top honors.

Concurrently, the industry is facing a severe crisis. The national committee ‘Orgoglio Olivicolo’, representing over 16,000 businesses and 30,000 workers, has organized protests in Bari. The group is demanding urgent political intervention through a platform of 10 institutional requests aimed at protecting employment, income, and exports within the supply chain.
