In the Maestrale trial, the Catanzaro Assize Court concluded the evidentiary phase concerning the disappearance and murder of entrepreneur Maria Chindamo. The court denied requests for additional testimony from mafia collaborator Pasquale Alessandro Megna, who had previously implicated Salvatore Ascone in the concealment of the victim. The trial is moving to the discussion phase, with closing arguments scheduled for November 18. Separately, the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catanzaro is investigating the 2019 murder of breeder Francesco Giuseppe Madera. Prosecutors are utilizing digital evidence, such as health application data from a suspect's phone, to cross-reference testimony from collaborator Gianluca Maestri. Maestri has implicated Carmine Dennis Rocca, Renato Salvatore Rossano, and Nicola Abbruzzese in the crime. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-07: Catanzaro prosecutors investigate Madera murder through digital evidence Catanzaro prosecutors are using digital data, including phone movement logs and surveillance, to verify testimony regarding the 2019 murder of Francesco Giuseppe Madera. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/catanzaro-prosecutors-investigate-madera-murder-through-digital-evidence ### 2026-11-03: Italian courts advance proceedings in Maria Chindamo murder trial The Maestrale trial regarding the murder of Maria Chindamo enters the discussion phase in Catanzaro, following the court's rejection of further evidentiary requests. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/italian-courts-advance-proceedings-in-maria-chindamo-murder-trial --- Cite as: Italian organized crime murder investigations.
