The Diocese of Fano is honoring the final wishes of Father Lanfranco Casali, who passed away in Osimo at age 93. Per his request, his ashes were transformed into a blue-tinted diamond by the Swiss company Algordanza using carbon extracted from his remains.

Casali, who died in November 2025, recorded a video explaining that the diamond was intended as a spiritual symbol of the resurrection and a reflection of Christ’s light, rather than a display of wealth. He described himself as a “small diamond” that required purification to better reflect the light of God. The resulting blue hue is attributed to boron present in the human body.

In a separate matter, the Diocese of San Marco Argentano-Scalea announced the death of Father Silvano Caparelli, who passed away at age 64 following a long illness.
