In July 2026 the province of Siena announced upgrades to its road network, including the reopening of the Le Chiavi tunnel and the commencement of work on the Monte Amiata route.

A month later, in August 2026, Sardinia completed the reconstruction of the provincial road 38bis at Monte Pino in Gallura. The road, which had been closed since a bridge collapse in 2013, was reopened after a €18 million effort by ANAS and contractor Vitalia, restoring the link between Olbia and Tempio Pausania and ending a 13‑year period of isolation for northern Sardinian communities.
