Major sailing championships are being held in Italy. In late September, the Gulf of Gaeta hosted the Italian Match Race Championship, a Grade 3 World Sailing competition organized by the Yacht Club Gaeta Evs. The event featured twelve helmsmen competing in one-on-one matches using Match 25 boats across various categories, including Under 23, all-female, and mixed crews.

Following this, the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) scheduled the Edison Next Italian Championship of Olympic Classes (CICO) in Naples for late October. This larger event involves approximately 400 athletes and over 250 boats competing in ten Olympic disciplines and Para Sailing. The championship serves as a preparatory event for athletes targeting the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
