The 7th National Meeting of Italian UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserves was scheduled to take place in Calabria from October 20 to 23, 2026. Coordinated by the Sila National Park, the event was designed to facilitate dialogue and the sharing of best practices regarding the intersection of biodiversity, culture, and sustainable development.

Following the conclusion of the meeting in the Sila Biosphere Reserve, participants—including experts, institutions, and youth groups—focused on strategies for territory governance, environmental education, and sustainable tourism. The discussions aimed to balance environmental protection with the economic needs of local communities.

The Ticino Val Grande Verbano Biosphere Reserve has been selected to host the next national meeting in 2027, covering areas within the Lombardy and Piedmont regions.
