Developments: 2. Labor disputes involving waste management workers have emerged across the Campania and Salerno regions of Italy, primarily driven by unpaid wages and contractual grievances. In Marano di Napoli, workers organized by unions including FP Cgil, Fit Cisl, and Fiadel initiated a strike following failed mediation at the Naples Prefecture. The service provider, Marano Ambiente, attributed payment delays to corporate restructuring. While the company stated that salaries and ticket reimbursements had been addressed, unions maintained their strike action, leading to issues with street sweeping despite commitments to provide essential services at schools and barracks. In the Salerno province, tensions have escalated in several municipalities, including Sapri, Ispani, Torraca, and Montesano sulla Marcellana. Workers employed by General Enterprise S. r. l. postponed a planned strike to November 12, 2026, pending a conciliation meeting with the Prefecture of Salerno. The FIT-CISL union cited systematic payment delays and incorrect contractual classifications. Additionally, in San Mauro Cilento, workers managed by GF Scavi S. r. l. have entered a state of agitation over unpaid August and September salaries, with the FP CGIL Salerno union warning of a full strike if payments are not made immediately. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-12: Salerno waste management workers threaten strikes over unpaid wages Labor unions in Salerno, Italy, are protesting unpaid wages and contract violations in the waste management sector, with strikes threatened by workers at General Enterprise and GF Scavi. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/salerno-waste-management-workers-threaten-strikes-over-unpaid-wages ### 2026-10-01: Marano di Napoli waste workers strike over unpaid wages Waste management workers in Marano di Napoli are striking over unpaid wages and service mismanagement, despite mediation efforts by the Naples Prefecture to prevent urban hygiene disruptions. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/marano-di-napoli-waste-workers-strike-over-unpaid-wages --- Cite as: Italian waste management labor disputes.
