Italy is implementing various initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence into its educational and industrial sectors. In Lombardy, the Next Gen AI Summit addressed the role of AI in teaching, while the launch of ‘Officina AI’ in Milan aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises in developing AI solutions through a public-private partnership. This industrial push is supported by Decree 179/2026, which aligns national law with the EU AI Act and establishes guidelines for AI use in schools.

In Sicily, efforts have focused on social inclusion and digital literacy. The ‘Generazioni Digitali 2026’ initiative in Palermo’s Zen district uses workshops and masterclasses to bridge the digital divide and reduce school dropout rates. Additionally, conferences in Bagheria have explored the application of AI within public administration and classrooms, emphasizing digital ethics.
