Reports emerged in September 2026 suggesting that ITV might cancel the game show spin-off ‘The Chase Around The World’ after its first six-episode series. The potential cancellation was attributed to viewership numbers dropping to 1.2 million, compared to the 1.6 million typically seen for the original series. Critics noted the format deviated too far from the studio-based original, and while some sources claimed a decision to end the show had been made, an ITV spokesperson stated that discussions regarding a potential recommission were still ongoing.

By October 2026, ITV Studios included ‘The Chase Around the World’ as a highlight in its new catalog of 10 entertainment formats unveiled for Mipcom. Mike Beale, Managing Director of ITV Studios Global Creative Network, indicated that the selection aimed to provide programming for various buyers and time slots, noting that many formats were returning for second seasons.
