South Korean singer IU released a new digital single featuring two tracks, ‘Dear My Crazy Soulmate’ and ‘Unknown Planet’.

‘Dear My Crazy Soulmate’ was written by IU as a tribute to her friend of over 15 years, Yoo In Na, exploring the concept of a ‘safe space’ within a friendship. To celebrate this bond, IU released a video montage featuring archival photos and clips of the two, documenting their relationship from their initial meeting on a 2010 variety show to recent personal milestones. The music video for the track features IU and Yoo Inna, with appearances by Kim Young-ok and Na Moon-hee.

The second track, ‘Unknown Planet’, arranged by Cloud Koh, utilizes a synth-powered instrumental to focus on the process of letting go of a past relationship by reflecting on cherished memories. The lyrics depict a mature perspective on parting ways, where the individual chooses to cherish memories rather than attempting to erase them. While some listeners have speculated the song reflects IU’s personal history following a reported breakup with Lee Jong Suk, IU has not confirmed any specific details regarding the lyrics.
