The political party Izquierda Unida has begun announcing its candidates for various municipal elections across Spain.

In Albacete, Nieves Navarro Rodenas has been named the candidate for Mayoralty. Her platform emphasizes social rights, specifically targeting affordable housing and combating child poverty, noting that approximately 40% of the region’s children are at risk.

In the province of Córdoba, the party has announced candidates for two locations. In La Colonia de Fuente Palmera, Francisco Javier Ruiz Moro is running for a fourth term to protect public services such as healthcare and education. In Puente Genil, Reyes Estrada has been endorsed to focus on municipal services, equality, and social inclusion.

Expanding its presence in Córdoba, the party has named Francisco Javier Córdoba Sánchez as its candidate for the 2027 municipal elections in Montilla. Selected during an open assembly, Córdoba is a 25-year member of both Izquierda Unida and the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) who intends to build a “collective political project.”

Additionally, Izquierda Unida Andalucía has proposed forming an ‘Andalusian Group in the Senate’ within the Frente Amplio coalition for the upcoming general elections. This initiative seeks to advocate for fair financing, public services, infrastructure, and the protection of the region’s agricultural sector and natural heritage.
