Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has navigated two distinct legal and disciplinary issues. 

In late September, Oakland County prosecutors announced they would not file charges against Williams following an investigation by the Novi Police Department into an alleged assault at his home in August. Prosecutors concluded there was no cause to file charges after reviewing statements, photos, videos, and communications. Williams’ legal counsel described the allegations as “baseless.”

In October, Williams successfully appealed two NFL fines totaling $26,867. The penalties, issued for an illegal celebration involving a smoking motion and a taunting charge during a game against the Buffalo Bills, were rescinded by appeals officer Derrick Brooks. Brooks advised Williams to celebrate in a “professional manner possible.”
