This achievement marked the first time a Welsh artist secured a number one single in 15 years and the first solo male Welsh artist to do so in 41 years. The song’s success followed viral momentum on social media platforms like TikTok. Following this milestone, Miller shared details regarding his decade long struggle within the music industry. He revealed that he had nearly decided to quit music before the success of ‘Babydoll’. Miller, who previously appeared as a finalist on The Voice UK, noted that he had decided to focus on writing music he personally loved rather than conforming to industry pressure. He has since signed with Atlantic Records and BMG. Now based in Los Angeles, Miller has released the EP Broken Memories and the album Long Way Home, while collaborating with artists such as Tori Kelly, Young K, and Moira Dela Torre. His recent activities include a surprise performance of ‘Babydoll’ at the Carnaby Street Christmas lights switch-on event in London. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-06: Jamie Miller performs at Carnaby Street Christmas lights event Jamie Miller performed his UK number one single, ‘Babydoll’, during the Carnaby Street Christmas lights switch-on event in London. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jamie-miller-performs-at-carnaby-street-christmas-lights-event ### 2026-11-04: Jamie Miller discusses career struggles and breakthrough with ‘Babydoll’ Singer-songwriter Jamie Miller revealed he nearly quit the music industry before his song ‘Babydoll’ provided a career breakthrough. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jamie-miller-discusses-career-struggles-and-breakthrough-with-babydoll ### 2026-10-23: Jamie Miller reaches UK number one with Babydoll Welsh singer Jamie Miller has become the first Welsh artist in 15 years to top the UK singles chart with his viral track ‘Babydoll’. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jamie-miller-reaches-uk-number-one-with-babydoll --- Cite as: Jamie Miller music career breakthrough.
