Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expanded his Council of Ministers by inducting four leaders from the National Conference (NC). On October 26, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered oaths of office and secrecy to Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mir Saifullah, Shameema Firdous, and Altaf Ahmad Wani (also known as Altaf Kaloo) at the Lok Bhavan auditorium in Srinagar.

With these appointments, the total strength of the Cabinet has reached nine members, hitting the maximum limit allowed under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which restricts the Council to 10 percent of the 90-member Legislative Assembly. The reshuffle also resulted in the removal of Satish Sharma from the Cabinet. The administration stated the expansion aims to strengthen administrative capacity and improve governance.

Regarding political alliances, the Congress party has maintained its position of supporting the National Conference-led government from the outside. Congress leaders noted they were not part of discussions regarding the reshuffle and reiterated that the restoration of full statehood to the Union Territory remains their primary condition for joining the administration.

In addition to administrative restructuring, the Chief Minister continues to focus on economic development by inviting industry leaders to establish Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in the region. Abdullah has highlighted recent Ease of Doing Business legislation intended to attract investment and create local employment.
