Workers in Jammu and Kashmir are actively protesting for wage increases and permanent employment status. National Health Mission (NHM) employees recently conducted a 72-hour pen-down strike to demand equal pay and fair transfer policies.

In response, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary pledged to regularize all daily wagers within a five-year tenure and noted that a committee has been formed to examine a regularization framework. 

Further demonstrations by the Jammu and Kashmir Casual/Daily Wagers Forum in Srinagar coincided with Legislative Assembly sessions, where the government confirmed it is reviewing a uniform framework for temporary and seasonal workers. Additionally, legislative representatives have called for increased honorariums and social security benefits, such as pensions and insurance, for Anganwadi and ASHA workers to address the rising cost of living.
