Jaume Subirós, owner of Motel Empordà in Figueres, has received multiple honors for his career in the restaurant industry. 

On October 9, 2026, the Real Academia de Gastronomía awarded him the ‘Toda una Vida 2026’ National Gastronomy Award, recognizing his lifelong dedication to hospitality and Catalan cuisine. 

Later in the month, Subirós was also honored with the National Gastronomy Prize from the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition and the National Career Prize from the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy. In reflections on these honors, Subirós noted the upcoming 65th anniversary of Motel Empordà and the centenary of its founder, Josep Mercader.
