A woman identified as Jane Doe, who filed a civil lawsuit in 2024 alleging she was sexually assaulted by Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in 2000, has recanted her allegations against Carter.

In a 12-page declaration filed in Manhattan federal court, the accuser stated under penalty of perjury that ‘Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me’ and that she has ‘never met or spoken to Mr. Carter.’ While her legal counsel maintains she was a victim of sexual assault, they clarified she was ‘entirely mistaken’ or ‘entirely wrong’ regarding Carter’s involvement. 

The accuser expressed apologies to Carter, his family, and Beyoncé for the ‘immense pain, suffering, and damage’ caused by the claims. She noted that her previous allegations were triggered by a Facebook advertisement and cited mental health issues. Jay-Z has dismissed the woman as a defendant in his ongoing malicious prosecution lawsuit against her former attorney, Tony Buzbee.
