Vice President JD Vance arrived in Alaska for midterm campaign activities, traveling with his wife, Usha Vance, and their two children. 

During his visit to Fairbanks, Vance campaigned for Republican Senator Dan Sullivan in his reelection race against Democrat Mary Peltola. Vance criticized Peltola’s record and her position on the Alaska Right to Produce Act, which seeks to reduce federal restrictions on oil and gas leases. Peltola responded by defending her opposition to provisions that would remove special designations for the Northern Bering Sea Climate Resilience Area.

In addition to domestic issues, Vance addressed international security, stating that Iran is attempting to “terrorize the world economy” by targeting commercial shipping. He asserted that the United States would respond to these economic pressure tactics by increasing pressure on Iran.
