Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) and the French shipping group CMA CGM have entered into agreements to develop and operate the fourth container terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia. Supported by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), the project involves an investment estimated between $426.5 million and $434 million.

The expansion aims to increase annual capacity by up to 2.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Infrastructure plans include the construction of deep-water berths designed to accommodate large-scale container vessels, the installation of new ship-to-shore cranes, and the implementation of advanced operational technologies. This initiative is intended to support Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030 by strengthening the port’s position on major east-west shipping routes.

In related developments at the same port, DP World reported that its South Container Terminal reached its highest monthly throughput since 1999 in July 2026, handling over 221,200 TEUs.
