Following the film’s success at the Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion, media outlets have positioned Jeon as a potential candidate to become the first Korean actress nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. By late October 2026, the film’s critical momentum continued as it received three nominations at the 38th Gotham Awards, including Best International Film and Best Screenplay. Jeon’s nomination for Best Lead Performance in a gender-neutral category—competing against actors such as Julianne Moore, Gillian Anderson, and Mahershala Ali—has further increased expectations for her upcoming Oscar prospects. The film, which explores themes of class and labor through the intersecting lives of working-class and wealthy couples, has also achieved a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. ‘Possible Love’ is scheduled for global release on Netflix on November 6. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: Jeon Do-yeon nominated for Gotham Award for Possible Love Actress Jeon Do-yeon earned a Gotham Award nomination for Best Lead Performance in Lee Chang-dong’s ‘Possible Love’, fueling Oscar speculation for the Netflix film. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jeon-do-yeon-nominated-for-gotham-awards-best-actress ### 2026-10-25: Jeon Do-yeon cited as potential first Korean Best Actress Oscar nominee Actress Jeon Do-yeon is tipped by US media to become the first South Korean Best Actress Oscar nominee for her role in Lee Chang-dong’s acclaimed Netflix film ‘Possible Love’. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jeon-do-yeon-cited-as-potential-first-korean-best-actress-oscar-nominee --- Cite as: Jeon Do-yeon awards recognition for Possible Love.
