Authorities in the Dominican Republic have addressed separate high-value jewelry thefts involving different suspects.

In Puerto Plata, National Police arrested 21-year-old Breidy José Rosario Hernández, known as ‘El Diablón’, for the theft of approximately US$11,000 in gold and diamond jewelry from a residence. Investigations indicated the items were taken by a worker during a refrigeration service and subsequently transported to a store in La Vega.

In a separate investigation, the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) is searching for Luis Miguel de la Cruz in connection with a robbery involving RD$4 million in jewelry and RD$725,000 in cash. Authorities allege De la Cruz used a rented vehicle to facilitate the theft at a residence and noted his alleged involvement in a previous multimillion-dollar jewelry theft in Barahona in September 2025.
