JR East has announced a recruitment drive for train driving experiences at Haijima Station. Scheduled for September and October 2026, the event allows participants to operate the E233 series currently used on the Ome Line between Ome and Okutama. 

Participants can experience duties as both a driver, including operation and door control, and a conductor, including making announcements. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis via JRE MALL for 40,000 yen per person.

### 2026-07-29: JR East launches public test ride for new E131 train series

In July 2026 six E131 series cars were moved to Nagano’s vehicle center, and on Aug 30 JR East hosted a parent‑child test‑ride of the new E131 trains at Kofu Station.
