The personal relationship between Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and singer Madison Beer has drawn public scrutiny and subsequent celebration.

In late September, former NFL safety TJ Ward criticized the relationship on the Speakeasy podcast, suggesting that Beer was a distraction to Herbert during a difficult 0-2 start to the Chargers' season. Ward claimed that the time required for the relationship could impact Herbert’s professional performance, stating, “This girl, Beer, she’s using you, buddy.”

However, Beer later revealed via a Twitch livestream that the couple had become engaged. She described the proposal, which occurred on July 26, as “magical” and shared details regarding her antique diamond ring.
