Kaizer Chiefs secured a 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium to advance to the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals. The win was driven by a second-half hat-trick from 22-year-old striker Wandile Duba, who became the first Kaizer Chiefs player to score three goals in a single match in this competition during the PSL era.

The victory provides a significant morale boost for head coach Fernando Da Cruz following a period of instability that included an elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup. In response to that continental exit, Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr issued a public statement reaffirming the club’s confidence in Da Cruz and his technical team, emphasizing a commitment to the club’s long-term sporting project.

Da Cruz expressed appreciation for the board’s support, noting that he maintains regular communication with the Sporting Director to assess progress and strategic objectives. The win also ended a five-match winless streak for the Soweto-based club.
