Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of the CAF Confederation Cup group stages has ended following a second-leg tie against Zambian side Red Arrows. Prior to the tie, Chiefs were preparing for their eighth Betway Premiership match against Stellenbosch FC while eyeing the significant financial incentives associated with advancing to the group stages.

After losing the first leg 1–0 in Ndola on 17 October, Chiefs hosted the return leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 23 October. In the second leg, Kaizer Chiefs secured a 1–0 victory through a 66th-minute header by Bradley Cross, following a free-kick from Mfundo Vilakazi. This result leveled the aggregate score at 1–1.

Despite increased pressure and several missed opportunities to secure the win during regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Red Arrows proved more composed in the shootout, winning 3–2 after Kaizer Chiefs failed to convert three attempts from Lebohang Maboe, Reeve Frosler, and Ethan Chislett. The defeat results in Red Arrows advancing to the group stage, while Kaizer Chiefs’ continental campaign concludes prematurely. The South African club will now redirect its focus toward domestic competitions and upcoming fixtures, including a Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
