The 2026 Kaohsiung Film Festival in Taiwan recognized several immersive works in its XR categories. 

Kazuki Yuha’s XR animation ‘First Virtual Suit’, produced by CinemaLeap, received the ‘XR Immersive Award’. The interactive VR project, which utilized Sony’s 360 Reality Audio technology, explores identity and self-expression through avatars. 

Additionally, the VR animated film ‘If You See a Cat’ (Neko ga mietara), directed by Jun Wada and produced by Kodansha VR Lab, won both the XR Golden Fireball Award and the XR Spark Award. The 37-minute work uses a unique VR perspective to depict a boy’s experiences within the Japanese mental healthcare system, based on research into psychiatric care challenges.
