Kazakhstan has marked significant national anniversaries, including its 35th year of independence and Republic Day. These celebrations highlighted the nation’s evolution into a major Central Asian economy and a key energy and logistics partner for the European Union.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has overseen various political and structural reforms, including the adoption of a new Constitution and a transition to a unicameral Parliament known as the Kurultai. Following a 2026 referendum, the office of the vice president was also reinstated.

Economic indicators noted during these milestones include a GDP growth of approximately 30% since 2019, with GDP per capita exceeding $15,000. On the international stage, the country continues to maintain a multi-vector foreign policy, strengthening ties with the EU, China, Russia, the US, and Turkey, while expanding transit capabilities through new aviation links.

During the October 25 Republic Day celebrations, which commemorated the 1990 adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, President Tokayev noted that the nation's GDP exceeded $300 billion in 2025. The anniversary drew international diplomatic tributes. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described bilateral relations as the ‘strongest’ in history, while Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to deepen strategic cooperation. Additionally, Turkish MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli characterized the relationship between the nations as ‘brother and friend states’ within the Turkic world.
