The family of a woman who died in a 2024 Busan stalking case has filed a petition on the KBS viewer board, calling for action regarding an actress appearing in a KBS daily drama. The victim’s mother stated that while her daughter lost her life due to persistent stalking by an ex-boyfriend, the perpetrator’s sister continues to have a successful career as a prominent actress on the public broadcaster. The perpetrator was previously sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison for charges including special intimidation and stalking, though the court ruled a direct causal link between the stalking and the victim's death could not be clearly established. KBS has officially rejected the petition to remove the actress from her role. While expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the broadcaster stated it cannot perform prior verification on the family members of performers. KBS noted that taking action against an individual based solely on the actions of a relative would contravene Article 13, Paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which protects citizens from being disadvantaged by the acts of their kin. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-16: KBS rejects petition to remove actress linked to stalking case perpetrator KBS declined a petition to remove an actress from a drama, citing that she is the sister of a convicted stalker.
