Initially, the utility company introduced operational zone managers to oversee services in Rijeka and surrounding local government units. This restructuring aims to increase efficiency and accelerate problem resolution through direct field monitoring and closer cooperation with local committees and wardens. Director Igor Velimirović noted that the goal is to resolve issues more effectively by having managers monitor waste conditions and handle reports directly. Following this restructuring, the company launched further initiatives to engage the public, including citizen surveys distributed via mailboxes to gather data on improper waste disposal and bulky waste issues. Additionally, in collaboration with the Trsat Local Committee, KD Čistoća organized a weekend eco-action providing specialized containers for bulky items like furniture and mattresses to prevent illegal dumping in public and green spaces. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-08: KD Čistoća launches waste management surveys and collection drive in Rijeka KD Čistoća is conducting citizen surveys on waste disposal issues and organizing a bulky waste collection event in the Trsat neighborhood to improve local cleanliness. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kd-istoa-launches-waste-management-surveys-and-collection-drive-in-rijeka ### 2026-09-29: KD Čistoća introduces operational zone managers in Rijeka KD Čistoća has introduced operational zone managers in Rijeka to improve waste management efficiency and speed up response times to local issues. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kd-istoa-introduces-operational-zone-managers-in-rijeka --- Cite as: KD Čistoća waste management initiatives in Rijeka.
